Executive Changes

Banc One Corp., Columbus, Ohio, has named Raymond E. Heh to head its southwest Ohio commercial markets. He will be based in Cincinnati.

Mr. Heh, 54, had been Bank One Akron's chairman and chief executive since 1993. He joined the bank in May 1985 as executive vice president and senior lending officer and was named president and chief operating officer in 1990.

Succeeding Mr. Heh as top executive at the Akron bank is Oscar C. Hatchett, 42, who had been its executive vice president of commercial banking since 1993. Mr. Hatchett was named president of the bank; the posts of chairman and chief executive have been eliminated.

He will be responsible for commercial banking in Summit, Stark, Medina, Por-tage, and Wayne counties and will report to David L. Stith. Mr. Stith, who is chairman, president, and CEO of Bank One Cleveland, heads Banc One Corp.'s northeast Ohio region. Mr. Hatchett joined Bank One Akron in 1989 as vice president and team leader of commercial banking.

MIDDLE ATLANTIC

Long Island Bancorp, Melville, N.Y., has named Lawrence W. Peters president and chief operating officer of the company and its Long Island Savings Bank subsidiary, succeeding John J. Conefry Jr. Mr. Conefry remains chairman and chief executive.

Mr. Peters joined Long Island Savings in 1989, and was senior executive vice president and chief lending officer from then until 1995. He became a director of the bank the year he joined it and a director of the holding company in 1993, when it was formed.

Before joining Long Island Savings, he was vice chairman and a director of Dime Savings Bank of New York, in charge of lending functions.

Long Island Bancorp has assets of $5.8 billion and 36 branches in Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties.

WEST

City National Bank, Beverly Hills, has hired William Freeman as vice president of strategic planning. He will oversee analysis and development of the bank's business plans.

Mr. Freeman was chief financial officer of Private Bank, a unit of Bank of America focused on high-net-worth clients in banking, investment, and trust services.

Before that, he had held management posts at Security Pacific Bank and was a senior manager at KPMG Peat Marwick.
