The credit bureau Experian Group Ltd. has incorporated phone authentication software from Adeptra Inc. in the automated calling system it sells to financial companies.
Experian, of Costa Mesa, Calif., said Tuesday that it is using the Norwalk, Conn., company's Knowledge IQ product, which automatically generates challenge questions from credit records and other databases to verify a caller's identity.
The Knowledge IQ questions are designed to be easy for customers to answer but hard for fraudsters to guess.
Experian said a top-five financial company has already implemented the combined product.
