Experian Group Ltd. has licensed a patent portfolio covering interactive voice system from Ronald A. Katz Technology Licensing LP.
The Los Angeles technology licensing company announced the nonexclusive agreements Wednesday with the Costa Mesa, Calif., credit bureau, settling an ongoing patent infringement lawsuit.
Experian agreed to pay an undisclosed sum for permission to use Katz's technology in services it offers through its automated voice response system and through live customer service agents.
Katz has an extensive history of filing patent-infringement lawsuits over its call center technology, which is protected by more than 50 patents.
More than 150 companies have reached similar licensing agreements, including Zions Bancorp., American Express Co., Bank of America Corp., and Wells Fargo & Co.
