F&M Bank Appoints Tennessee Banking Veteran to Board

F&M Bank in Clarksville, Tenn., has named Tennessee banking veteran Brad Barrett to its board of directors.

Barrett previously served as the president of the Tennessee Bankers Association from 1992 to 2013 when his son, Colin, replaced him, according to the Nashville Business Journal. Overall, he worked for the association for 40 years.

He also served as the chairman of Louisiana State University's Graduate School of Banking for two terms.

"[Barrett] brings a wealth of banking knowledge to F&M," President and Chief Executive Sammy Stuard said in the news release the publication obtained. "[He] will contribute greatly as we seek new opportunities for growth across Middle Tennessee."

The bank did not immediately return a request for further comment.

Bringing Barrett on board is the first major action the nearly $900 million-asset bank has made since Nashville businessman Gaylon Lawrence Jr. purchased it for nearly $85 million in cash.
