Fifth Third Bancorp of Cincinnati said Tuesday that its transaction processing unit would begin referring customers to the alternative payment provider ModaSolutions Corp. of Ottawa.
Fifth Third Processing Solutions said it would offer the option to its merchant processing clients to provide them with a payment system that does not require the use of credit. Moda's eBillme system allows consumers to pay merchants through their banks' online bill-payment system.
"Extending payment option offerings at the online checkout is critical for online retail businesses to attract customers, increase orders, and improve satisfaction and loyalty," Donald Boeding, the president of merchant services for Fifth Third Processing Solutions, said in a press release issued Tuesday.
