Fintech Startup to Host Hackathon for Kids

Virtual Piggy has joined the list of fintech companies and banks to host hackathons to spot talent — in this case, one geared at individuals 19 and younger and taking place in December.

The startup, which designs software that allows kids to manage and spend money within parental controls, will host its hackathon on Dec. 7 in Los Angeles. Prizes will include more than $25,000 in scholarships, laptops and internships at Virtual Piggy.

"We are running our first hackathon to help promote the importance of learning computer science and youth empowerment in the digital age," said Dr. Jo Webber, chief executive and founder of Virtual Piggy, in a press release.
