To expand its sales in foreign countries, First Data Corp. has hired Nigel Bidmead as a senior vice president in its international division.
Mr. Bidmead will develop relationships with major retailers and other international merchants, the Denver processor said last month.
He was the managing director for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa for VeriFone Holdings Inc. He has more than 20 years of experience with electronic payments, cards, authorization and settlement systems, and foreign software and telecommunications companies.
"We are increasing our emphasis on delivering services direct to major retailers in all parts of the world," David Yates, the president of First Data's international division, said in a press release. Mr. Bidmead's experience "will enable him to make a significant contribution to the growth of this business."
