WASHINGTON - First Union Corp. of Charlotte, N.C., said 202 branch offices formerly run by First American Metro Corp. and Dominion Bancshares Corp. in Virginia, Maryland and Washington would become branches of its First Union National Bank on Friday.

First Union noted that while it acquired the two parent banks in March, branch offices have continued to operate under their respective names While First Union converted computer systems and retrained employees.

As reported, the company in October converted 53 former Dominion branches in southwest Virginia to the First Union name.
