Viewpointe LLC plans to announce today that Fiserv Inc. has agreed to move its check-image files to Viewpointe's shared archive.
Fiserv, the nation's largest private check processing outsourcer, agreed in November 2005 to connect its Fiserv Clearing Network to the archive, using Viewpointe's Pointe2Pointe service for connecting with nonarchive trading partners.
Under the new agreement, Fiserv will move its clients' check images from its proprietary archive, one of the industry's largest, to the Viewpointe archive, which stores images on behalf of 11 large banks. Fiserv will continue to use its current image archive for image statements, CD/ROMs, and DVDs.
Fiserv, of Brookfield, Wis., agreed to promote Viewpointe's archive to its 1,600 check processing clients.
Thomas W. Warsop 3rd, the president of Fiserv's financial institutions group, said in a press release, "This agreement is very much in the mold of Fiserv 2.0, a Fiserv strategic initiative designed to drive innovation and to create best-in-class products for our clients."
Fiserv and Viewpointe also said they are pursuing a strategic alliance to promote innovation in the payments industry.
