Fiserv Inc. has launched a service to allow banks and credit unions to store, back up and restore documents on a disk.
Fiserv, of Brookfield, Wis., is working with i365 Inc. of Santa Clara., Calif., to offer the service, called Data Vaulting from Fiserv.
The service eliminates the need to store documents on tapes, allowing financial companies to manage the data in a hosted or non-hosted environment, or a combination of both. The service uses i365's Evault software.
"Bankers never want to experience a disaster, but they're obligated to be ready for one," Steve Tait, group president for depository institution services at Fiserv, said in a press release Wednesday. "The accelerated restoration of banking functions and the advantages of disk-based storage can give organizations using Data Vaulting from Fiserv a clear advantage and peace of mind."
