Former Agency Executive Pleads Guilty to Stealing from Employer

A South Dakota man pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of mail fraud for using the mail to steal more than $106,000 from his employer, AAA Collection Co., between 2009 and 2011.

Steven Isaacson, 50, was the chief financial officer and chief operating officer of the agency from 2006 to 2011. He used company checks to pay his personal credit card bills, according to a statement filed as part of the plea.

In a federal courthouse in Sioux Falls, S.D., Judge Karen Schreier accepted the plea and told Isaacson he won't be sentenced until after a probation report is prepared and she has a chance to rule on any objections his defense might report. Schreier set Isaacson’s sentencing hearing for Sept. 23, according to the local Argus Leader newspaper.

As a part of the plea, Isaacson will pay $106,609.03 in restitution to his former company. If Schreier agrees to a restitution plan at the sentencing hearing, Isaacson will make an initial payment of $25,000 and then $900 monthly until the rest of the amount is paid.
