Former Wal-Mart Financial Services Head Thompson Joins OnDeck Board

Jane Thompson, the former head of the financial services division at Wal-Mart Stores, has joined the board of OnDeck, a small business lending company in New York.

Thompson currently serves as chief executive of Jane J. Thompson Financial Services, her own management consulting firm. She left Wal-Mart in 2011, after founding the company's financial products unit nine years earlier.

She also previously led the credit and home services divisions at Sears, Roebuck & Co.

"Her expertise and leadership will help guide our growth across our marketing, product innovation, risk management, and customer service efforts," said Noah Breslow, chief executive of OnDeck, in a press release Thursday.

In the past few months, Thompson has also joined the boards of VeriFone and the Center for Financial Services Innovation, a nonprofit research group in Chicago.

She was named by American Banker as Innovator in of the Year in 2011 and one of the Most Powerful Women in Finance in 2010.
