Mark J. Formica, executive vice president of Dominion Bancshares Corp., will become president and chief executive of Citizens Bank of Rhode Island, Providence.

Mr. Formica will join the unit of Citizens Financial Group Inc. on Nov. 23 and be responsible for a 49-branch system, the largest in Rhode Island.
At Dominion, based in Roanoke, Va., he has been responsible for the operation of 286 branches in Virginia, Tennessee, Maryland, and Washington. The presidents of the Dominion banks of Maryland, Washington, and middle Tennessee report to him.
