Georgia Credit Unions Complete Big Merger

Georgia United Credit Union in Atlanta said Monday that it had completed its merger with State Employees Credit Union over the weekend.

The merger created a credit union with $870 million of assets and 16 branches across the state.

Georgia United was known until this year as Georgia Federal Credit Union and serves the school system and more than 450 employee groups, including the University of Georgia's faculty, staff, students and alumni. State Employees Credit Union was a 50-year-old credit union in downtown Atlanta, with membership that included all State of Georgia Agency employees and retirees.
