Global Payments Inc. said Wednesday that it has hired Goldman Sachs Group Inc. executive Jeffrey Sloan as its president.
Sloan was previously the managing director and global head of Goldman's financial technology group and had led its investment banking activities for the payments industry for the past decade.
He is to start at Global Payments on June 1 and will be responsible for the lines of business in North America as well as worldwide business development. He will report to chairman and chief executive Paul Garcia.
Global Payments also named James Kelly vice chairman and chief operating officer.
Garcia called Sloan "a highly respected and knowledgeable leader in financial services with an unparalleled understanding of emerging trends and worldwide opportunities in the payments industry."
