Michael Shirman, transmodus' chief technology officer, said Monday that his Oxnard, Calif., company's remittance ID tagging service works with the Heartland Express Funds remote deposit service throughout the payment and return cycle.

"Reconciliation processes are usually labor intensive, tedious, and prone to a high level of exceptions," Mr. Shirman said in a Heartland press release. "The ability to capture a remittance tag at scanning brings a new level of efficiency."

Heartland said the remittance information remains associated with a check image through the processes of funding, returned items processing, recovery, secondary collections, and paperless submission of bad checks to prosecutor programs in more than 150 metropolitan areas.
