Hensarling Announces House Banking Panel Leadership

WASHINGTON — Incoming House Financial Services Committee Chairman Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, has named his leadership team for the coming term.

Rep. Gary Miller, R-Calif., will serve as vice chairman of the committee, and Rep. Lynn Westmoreland, R-Ga., will serve as committee whip, a new position, Hensarling said in a statement Thursday.

Hensarling will also combine two existing subcommittees: the domestic monetary policy and technology subcommittee and the international monetary policy and trade subcommittee. The newly combined domestic and international monetary policy subcommittee will be chaired by Rep. John Campbell, R-Calif.

Rep. Randy Neugebauer, R-Texas, will now chair the insurance, housing and community opportunity subcommittee, after former chair Rep. Judy Biggert, R-Ill., lost her reelection bid this fall.

Neugebauer previously ran the oversight and investigations subcommittee, which will now be chaired by Rep. Patrick McHenry, R-N.C.

Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W. Va., will keep her spot heading the financial institutions and consumer credit subcommittee. Rep. Scott Garrett, R-N.J., will also remain in place as chair of the capital markets and government-sponsored enterprises subcommittee.
