Higgins will head Bankers Trust unit.

Paul W. Higgins, a 24-year veteran of Bankers Trust New York Corp., has been appointed president of the company's Connecticut unit.

Mr. Higgins will oversee private advisory services throughout New England and in New York's Westchester County.

Before joining Bankers Trust Company Connecticut Ltd., Mr. Higgins was managing director of the global investment management group. In that role, he was in charge of asset management for the bank's private advisory services.

He has also been head of international private banking, chief private bank investment officer, and chairman of BT Brokerage.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Higgins worked for Marine Midland Bank, where he was senior managing director and executive officer for the investment securities services division.

He also served as the bank's chief fiduciary officer and chairman of Marinvest, the bank's institutional asset management subsidiary. -- Kalen Holliday
