Hits and Has-Beens

Wachovia's chief risk officer, Donald Truslow, announced his intention to retire at the age of 50 just days after the bank revealed its chief financial officer, Thomas J. Wurtz, would be leaving. No successors have yet been named, though newly appointed CEO Robert Steel, who replaced Ken Thompson in early June to repair the nation's fourth largest bank, said the executive team shake up is now officially complete.

Norma Corio is the new Treasurer at JP Morgan Chase, jumping from her leadership role at the bank's restructuring group and bringing her deal-making skills to the post. She fills the spot left vacant when Mark Kleinman left to join hedge fund Marathon Asset Management in June. The new head of the restructuring group is Mary Ellen Egbert.

Just a few days after TCF Financial announced second quarter earnings fell 60 percent from the year before, CEO Lynn Nagorske announced his retirement. William Cooper, who ran the bank for 20 years until 2005, stepped back into that role.(c) 2008 U.S. Banker and SourceMedia, Inc.
