HSBC Names Vira Head of Trade and Receivables for North America

HSBC has named Prabhat Vira as head of trade and receivables finance for its commercial banking business in North America.

Vira will lead HSBC's regional trade finance team while helping the bank's U.S. and Canadian customers tap trade and investment opportunities, the $2.7 trillion-asset company said Monday.

"The global economic shifts of the last few years have presented significant trade opportunities for U.S. businesses as well as HSBC's commercial banking business in the U.S.," Steve Bottomley, HSBC's head of commercial banking for North America, said in a news release. "As this move indicates, we will continue to position our business to best serve our customers and continue our growth."

Vira, who previously served as regional head of transaction services since joining HSBC in July 2007 from Royal Bank of Scotland, is based in New York.
