ID Theft Center to Offer Victims IDFreeze

The Identity Theft Resource Center, a nonprofit victim assistance group, said it would offer TrustedID Inc.'s IDFreeze product to identity theft victims.

IDFreeze helps victims place and manage credit freezes to prevent additional accounts from being fraudulently opened in their names. The Redwood City, Calif., vendor's product also monitors victims' accounts for signs of fraud.

Credit freezes are "the most proactive way to stop a theft before it can happen," Jay Foley, the center's executive director, said in a press release Tuesday.
