Marketed by the AIG Employee Benefits unit in Neptune, N.J., the product line has been approved in 33 states, with a variety of the products also approved in an additional 17 states. The benefits include group life, group accidental death and dismemberment, group short-term disability, and group long-term disability.

"The small and middle-market enterprise has traditionally been underserviced by group benefits providers," Steve Gold, the president and chief executive officer of AIG Employee Benefits, said in a press release.

"Our goal with these new offerings is to bring the products and services typically reserved for large national accounts to small and middle-market companies" that usually lack the resources of a Fortune 500 company, he said. "By working with a client's insurance broker and human resources personnel to design a benefits program that is cost-effective, easy to implement, and meets their specific needs, we can help companies make a real difference in their employees' lives."
