Ameriquest Mortgage Co. is advertising Platinum MasterCard credit cards issued by Direct Merchants Credit Card Bank, a unit of Metris Cos. Inc. of Minnetonka, Minn.
A pop-up ad on Ameriquest's Web site said the cards have credit lines for up to $25,000 and no annual fee, and they come with a free $50 Home Depot gift card. The card in the ad prominently features Ameriquest's logo.
Kevin Morefield, an executive vice president at Ameriquest, said the partnership began in August. The Orange, Calif., nonprime specialist has made it clear since last year that it wants to become a diversified financial services company.
