Bank of America Corp. has started testing later deposit deadlines for consumers.
The Charlotte banking company said last week that the program reflects the fact that electronic processing of transactions, especially paper checks, has accelerated.
B of A customers in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia can make deposits on weekdays through automated teller machines until 6 p.m., or in branches until 5 p.m. (6 p.m. on Fridays), and receive credit that day.
"Technology does allow processing to be faster now," said Terri Bolling a B of A spokeswoman.
