In Brief: B of A Hires for European Trading Desk

LONDON — Bank of America Corp. is boosting its derivatives trading desk in Europe.

The company said Thursday that it has hired Pierre Maliczak, Fitzroy Thomas, and Eymour Boutia for its structured products desk. They report to Jamie Miller, the European head of structured products.

In addition, the Charlotte, N.C., company hired Jesper Andreasen to join a newly formed quantitative interest rate modeling unit, reporting to Vladimire Piterbarg, head of the new unit.

“We now have an enhanced capability to serve our rapidly growing institutional client base with sophisticated structured investment products,” said Gerhard Seebacher, head of marketing for global derivative products in the region.

Mr. Maliczak comes from a similar post at Lehman Brothers. Mr. Thomas joined from BNP Paribas, where he was head of tax products in the French company’s fixed-income unit. Mr. Boutia comes from Credit Agricole Indosuez and J.P. Morgan, where he specialized in emerging markets structuring and trading.

Mr. Andreasen, who holds a doctorate in mathematical finance, comes from General Re Financial Products, where he was a vice president in quantitative research.
