In Brief: Bank of Montreal Starts Veev Promo

TORONTO - Bank of Montreal this week began a campaign to promote its Veev service for conducting wireless banking, investment, and other transactions.

The bank would not say how much it is spending on the print and radio campaign.

Over the next few weeks Bank of Montreal will also provide mobile phones to 300 branch employees across Canada for demonstrations and to answer customers' questions about Veev.

The bank, working with 724 Solutions Inc. of Toronto, launched Veev in May 1999. The service is available in English and French.

It is expected that more than half the Canadian population will own wireless phones by 2001.
