In Brief: Bank of N.Y. to Open Investment Center

NEW YORK — Bank of New York Co. said Friday that it is opening an investment services facility in Florida and plans to hire 330 people during the next three years to staff it.

BNY Investment Management Services LLC, which offers services to the mutual fund industry, is leasing 52,000 square feet of office space in Lake Mary. The unit plans to begin hiring mutual fund accounting and application programmers and support staff this month.

A spokesman said the new facility and staff are needed to keep up with new business and will not affect existing operations.
