In Brief: Bank of the Sierra Has a $7.5M Deal

Bank of the Sierra in Porterville, Calif., is buying Taft National Bank in Taft, Calif., for $7.5 million in cash, or about $28 per share.

The deal, announced Friday, is expected to close by mid-April.

Taft is a $57 million-asset bank with two branches, in Taft and Bakersfield, Calif.

Bank of the Sierra has $608 million in assets and operates 16 branches in four California counties between Bakersfield and Fresno.
