Banknorth Group Inc. in Portland, Maine, announced Friday that it had promoted Joseph Fico, the regional president for Banknorth Insurance Group Massachusetts, to president of Banknorth Insurance Group.
Mr. Fico joined Banknorth as a regional president in July 2003. He is to be based in the insurance group's headquarters in South Portland, Maine, but will maintain an office in Massachusetts.
Banknorth Insurance Group is the largest independent insurance agency network in New England and the nation's 46th-largest; it wrote more than $550 million of premiums last year, the company said.
Before joining Banknorth Mr. Fico held senior sales and management posts at Aon Corp. and St. Paul Cos.
The company did not say what had happened to Peter Sparta, who was listed on its Web site as the unit's president as recently as last August.Allianz Life Affiliate Hires Divisional VPAllianz Life Insurance Co. of North America in Minneapolis said it had hired David Parker to be a divisional vice president at an affiliate, USAllianz Investor Services LLC.
Mr. Parker is to oversee operations in the Northwest sales territory - Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, and Northern California - the company said on Thursday. He joins from Prudential.
