In Brief: Bay View Capital Plans A Move to Big Board

Bay View Capital Corp. of San Mateo, Calif., said it has filed an application to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

If the application is approved, the $5.6 billion-asset company would begin trading on the Big Board this month under the ticker symbol BVC.

John R. McKean, chairman of Bay View, said the move from the Nasdaq exchange "should provide our investors better market execution, lower transaction costs, and reduced market volatility."

In February, Bay View received regulatory approvals to convert from a thrift to a national bank.
