In Brief: Charter One Adding Wireless Technology

ATLANTA - Brokat AG, the German software vendor, has extended its licensing agreement with Cleveland-based Charter One Financial to include wireless banking.

The $32 billion-asset banking company last month selected Brokat's Twister middleware to offer Internet banking to consumers and small-business customers. Brokat's wireless technology is to complement the Web banking applications.

Charter One said it plans to offer wireless account summaries, funds transfers, views of recent transactions, and a speed-dial feature for customer support. It eventually will add wireless bill payments.
