In Brief: Chase Offers I-Vault to All Biz Customers

NEW YORK — Chase Manhattan Bank, a subsidiary of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., said Tuesday that it is offering all its business customers an Internet archive service that lets them load, store, and retrieve images of documents and data in seconds.

Chase has been using the I-Vault service internally for two years for documents such as tax forms and commercial loan agreements. The bank began marketing the service to a limited number of interested companies in late 1999.

Eighteen Chase affiliates and divisions, including its credit card unit, and external customers such as Toyota Financial Services and CNA Insurance currently use the service to retrieve about 246,000 images a month.
