In Brief: Fidelity Starts an Institute to Hone Ideas

Fidelity Investments said it had started a research institute Wednesday.
The institute is to focus on research, communications, and intellectual outreach to academic experts, other research groups, and policy think tanks, the Boston fund giant said. It will issue research reports on emerging issues, play host at seminars within and outside Fidelity, meet regularly with other opinion-shaping institutions, and hold an annual conference to showcase emerging ideas and solutions to financial challenges.
