COLUMBUS, Ga. - Total System Services Inc., the credit card processing company owned by Synovus Financial Corp., has hired Roger Van Scoy as senior director and chief operating officer of its European unit.
Mr. Van Scoy will be responsible for client services, account management, data center operations, and human resources. He will work from the company's offices outside London.
Total System Services president Philip W. Tomlinson said that Mr. Van Scoy's appointment would "help us build our infrastructure to support the expansion of our market presence in Europe."
For the last year Mr. Van Scoy was managing director of European client relations for First Data Resources Corp. Earlier he managed First Data's Asia Pacific market out of the Hong Kong office.
He has 21 years of experience in the cards industry. In addition to First Data, he has worked for First USA, First Fidelity Bank, and Electronic Data Systems Inc.
