In Brief: First Data, Regions Extend Processing Pact

The Denver payment processor First Data Corp. has extended its agreement to provide PIN and signature debit processing for Regions Financial Corp.'s banking units, Regions Bank and Union Planters Bank.

First Data announced the extension Thursday.

In addition, Regions, of Birmingham, Ala., has extended its membership in First Data's Star network and said it intends to make Star its primary network for automated teller machine and PIN debit transactions.

Regions has more than 1,700 ATMs in 15 states in the South and the Midwest.
