In Brief: Goldman Sachs Hires Former B of A Exec

LOS ANGELES - Kathleen Brown, the politically connected private banking executive who lost her job after Bank of America Corp.'s latest management reshuffle, has been hired by Goldman Sachs & Co.

The New York investment bank announced Wednesday that it had hired Ms. Brown as a managing director and senior adviser in its West Coast private wealth management business. Ms. Brown will be based in Los Angeles.

Ms. Brown is a former state treasurer of California as well as daughter and sister to two former California governors. She resigned from her post as president of Bank of America's western private banking group last August, when the bank consolidated its 10 banking regions into five and eliminated the positions of eastern and western private banking presidents.
