Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. in Simsbury, Conn., and Kraft Foods, two NCAA corporate partners, announced Monday a marketing promotion to build awareness of the SMART529 college savings plan.
Through a "Taste the Madness" promotion, which began this week, 31 people - corresponding with the 31 days of so-called March Madness, the NCAA college basketball championship tournament - will be awarded $10,000 toward a college education.
The promotion is being rolled out through displays at more than 30,000 grocery stores and mass merchants nationwide. A college savings calculator from The Hartford will also appear on Kraft's Web site so that families can estimate potential college expenses for their children.
