Hills Bank and Trust Co. of Hills, Iowa, plans to begin encrypting all its e-mail messages in 2005 to protect customer information on the Internet.
Rod Jensen, the senior information systems officer at the $1.3 billion-asset bank, said 11 internal users are testing the system. It was developed by Voltage Security Inc. of Palo Alto, Calif., a vendor of encryption software.
Hills plans to introduce the system in January to 250 employees at its 12 branches, Mr. Jensen said last week.
