HNC Software Inc. said it has incorporated data base technology from MicroStrategy Inc. in a new version of its ProfitMax cardholder profitability management system.

Delivering on a February announcement of their alliance, San Diego-based HNC said it has combined its analytical and one-to-one marketing capabilities with MicroStrategy's relational on-line analytical processing, or ROLAP.

In what was described as an advance in data warehousing, ProfitMax customers can use MicroStrategy's DSS Web or DSS Agent to document results of scoring and account management processes and "slice and dice" data down to individual transactions.

"ProfitMax is unique because it stores data on every card transaction," said Sanju K. Bansal, chief operating officer of MicroStrategy, Vienna, Va.
