In Brief: HSBC Starts a Contactless Test

HSBC Holdings PLC's U.S. credit card division has launched a pilot test of contactless payment systems embedded in mobile phones.

The six-month test, announced Friday, is being conducted in partnership with MasterCard Inc. and the payments software vendor Vivotech Inc.

HSBC said that more than 200 of its employees in New York, Chicago, and other large cities used over-the-air personalization software to load their HSBC credit card data onto their mobile phones.
