In Brief: Huntington Hires Former Bank One CFO

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Huntington Bancshares hired Michael J. McMennamin, the chief financial officer of Citizens Financial Group in Rhode Island and before that of the old Banc One Corp., to head its own broker-dealer subsidiary.

He was named president of Huntington Capital Corp. and an executive vice president of the banking company, reporting to Peter E. Geier, president and chief operating officer. He is also a member of the company's asset liability committee.

Mr. McMennamin was also group a executive vice president at Citizens, a subsidiary of Royal Bank of Scotland PLC, and before that an executive vice president at Banc One. He left after that company, now Bank One Corp., when it bought First Chicago NBD Corp. in 1998

Huntington Capital's services include institutional sales and trading of securities and municipal bond underwriting. The $29 billion-asset banking company has won approval from regulators to expand its underwriting capabilities.

In a press statement, Huntington chairman Frank Wobst said Mr. McMennamin's experience would help the company "continue an aggressive approach to improved performance."
