The Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission announced Wednesday that it had enhanced its availability to consumers, insurers, and regulators by launching a Web site.
"The creation of a user-friendly, accessible Web site is a progressive step in reaching the commission's goal to provide a more streamlined method of developing national product standards and to increase the speed and efficiency of state-based insurance regulation," R. Steven Orr, the Maryland insurance commissioner and chairman of the commission's interim Web site and communications committee, said in a press release.
The Web site features links to the commission's adopted uniform standards, rules, and procedures.
Twenty-eight states so far have joined the Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission. They are: Alaska, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
