In Brief: Juniper Bank Gives Two-Month Figures

WILMINGTON, Del. — Internet-only Juniper Bank announced Monday that it has generated more than $100 million in credit card receivables and 50,000 accounts in less than two months of operation.

Juniper officials said its credit card offers competitive rates, fraud protection, online shopping discounts, and the ability to manage accounts and pay bills online. The Columbus Bank and Trust Co. division also offers interest-bearing checking and savings accounts, flexible-terms certificates of deposit, insurance, loans, electronic bill payment and presentment, the ability to transfer funds electronically between Juniper and non-Juniper accounts, and wireless banking.

“Our strategy is to build a direct and online consumer bank by leading with the credit card,” said Jim Stewart, president of the parent company, Juniper Financial.

Juniper Bank began operations Oct. 24. It has received more than $114 million in funding.
