In Brief: Lehman Names Chief of Creditor Relations

NEW YORK — Lehman Brothers said Monday that it had hired Heidemarie U. Echtermann as its global head of creditor relations.

In the newly created position, Ms. Echtermann is the senior person in charge of maintaining and developing Lehman’s relationships with its credit providers and its senior relationships with financial institutions. he will also be in charge of Lehman’s creditor relations groups in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Ms. Echtermann was the head of bank relations at HypoVereinsbank in New York.

“As Lehman Brothers expands its business globally, it also needs to expand the infrastructure of the firm,” said spokesman Jason Farago. “Ms. Echtermann was appointed because she knows how to work with both U.S. counterparties and foreign counterparties,” he said. She reports to Ian T. Lowitt, global treasurer for Lehman Brothers, and is based in New York.

Before joining HypoVereinsbank 12 years ago, Ms. Echtermann worked at Marine Midland Bank.
