Trustmark Mutual Holding Co. of Lake Forest, Ill., said Monday that it had promoted David M. McDonough to chief executive officer.
He succeeded J. Grover Thomas Jr., who will remain the chairman of the board for three more years.
Mr. McDonough joined Trustmark as president and chief operating officer in 2002. Since then he has had oversight responsibility for all its businesses, which include CoreSource, Trustmark Group Insurance, Starmark, and Trustmark Voluntary Benefit Solutions.
He came to TrustMark from Fortis Health of Milwaukee, now Assurant Health; he was its chief operating officer and an executive vice president.
Trustmark offers life, medical, dental, managed-care, disability, critical-illness and benefit administration services to groups and individuals.
