In Brief: Nat’l Life of Canada Adds Four Funds

TORONTO — National Life Assurance of Canada last week added four funds with outside managers to its Touchstone Group fund family, whose 17 funds it had managed itself.

CI Funds will manage the new National European Growth Fund, Fidelity Investments the National Canadian Asset Allocation (Fidelity) Fund, and ABN Amro the National Canadian Growth Strategy Fund and the National Global Brand Managers Fund.

The idea was to make the Touchstone family more manageable and to enable advisers to build a diversified portfolio from it, said Brenda Moore, National Life’s director of marketing for retirement and investment products.

National Life sells life insurance, retirement, and investment products.

Its funds include Canadian and American international funds; equity, fixed-income, money market, and balanced funds; index funds and managed funds; conservative funds and aggressive growth funds; and core funds and specialized funds.
