In Brief: N.Y.'s First Republic Hires U.S. Trust Exec

First Republic Bank of New York has hired a U.S. Trust Co. executive as a managing director.

Dodie Gumaer, whose hiring was announced Tuesday, will work for the private bank's First Republic Wealth Advisors and serve high-net-worth individuals, providing investment strategy and management and trust services.

Ms. Gumaer worked for U.S. Trust for nine years as a vice president, serving the banking and investment management needs of high-net-worth clients. Before that she had worked in private banking and wealth management for Union Bank of Switzerland, Manufacturers and Traders Trust Co., Citibank, and Bankers Trust.

First Republic has offices in California, New York City, Portland, Ore., Seattle, Las Vegas, and Boston. Its investment advisory subsidiaries include Trainer Wortham & Co., Froley, Revy Investment Co., Starbuck, Tisdale & Associates, and First Republic Wealth Advisors.

The bank and its subsidiaries had $30.5 billion of assets as of June 30.
