In Brief: Pedestal Hires Chief<@SM> Technology Officer

WASHINGTON — Pedestal Inc., which runs an online secondary mortgage marketplace, has hired Don Sottile as its chief technology officer.

Mr. Sottile, 33, was also given the title of senior vice president. He started at Pedestal last month and reports to Stuart A. McFarland, Pedestal’s president and chief executive officer. He was the chief information officer for SunTrust Equitable Securities Corp., a unit of SunTrust Banks Inc. in Atlanta.

He was responsible for all infrastructure, systems development, vendor negotiation, budgeting, and enterprise technology strategy, and he managed a rapid application development team and implemented electronic trading systems for debt, equity, and capital markets.

Pedestal Capital Markets Inc., a New York based unit of Pedestal operates an electronic mortgage trading platform for commercial and residential whole mortgage loans, including unsecuritized pools and mortgage loans on a flow basis.
