In brief: Real Estate Trusts Gave 18.3% Return for 1995

Real estate investment trusts returned 18.3% to investors in 1995, a national trade group reported.

The National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts noted the return was smaller than the return on the S&P 500 for the year, but represented an 18% improvement over REIT returns in 1994.

"REITs are stable real estate investments that typically do not fluctuate with market highs and lows," said Mark Decker, the association's president.
