SAN FRANCISCO Robertson Stephens Inc., the investment bank subsidiary of FleetBoston Financial Corp., has hired eight people from Prudential Securities technology group, adding research and banking capabilities for publishing, advertising, broadcast and satellite companies.
The eight started this month. Prudential announced in December that it was scaling back in investment banking to concentrate on research and retail brokerage.
San Francisco-based Robertson Stephens has also gone through a companywide restructuring over the last quarter that included eliminating close to 300 jobs, or 19% of its staff.
